Sauter Family | Adoption

Adelyn Hope is a very sweet and quiet child.. who… loves milk. hahaha. She would NOT let go of that milk box and sipped on it for about 40 minutes straight. She has the cutest little face and matching outfit that I’ve ever seen and I just wanted to squeeze her cheeks. She’s also got the Korean girl attitude down. She’s going to be sweet and warm to her family and friends, but she’s going to make the boys fight for and earn her affection – like a cat. But they’ll just have to give her milk apparently.

Alison and James, congrats again on the new addition to your beautiful family. I wish you all the best.

Gibbs Family Adoption

I was on my way to the Holt office the morning that Suzanne emailed me. Would I like to shoot you right between my two shoots that day? Heck yes. It was a very busy day with about 1400 images shot in total. But I’m really glad to have been able to  be there for Suzanne. Not only is it great for me as a photographer, but I love providing these images that these families will look back on for the rest of their lives.

Suzanne and her sister Danielle had the perfect necklaces on. If you look down below at the closeups I didn’t accidentally miss the focus (photography tip: with portraits always focus on the eyes). I focused on the necklaces which say Mother (엄마) and Aunt (이모). Very cute.

It was very nice meeting you all. Suzanne, best of luck to you and Brian, in the coming months. And congratulations again.

Mealer Family Adoption

Much much much congratulations to the Mealers and their their beautiful new daughter Abigail. Abigail was incredibly intelligent. Usually the children I meet during adoptions are still quite unaware of what’s going on – they’re young. But Abigail’s foster parents must have been feeding her some good milk because she was sharp, strong-willed, and knew everything that was happening. That’s why this one was also particularly heart wrenching to document because the emotion was amped up by all the parents, and Abigail was already very attached to her foster parents.

But she’s found a new home with new wonderful parents. During the picture below with the two mothers hugging Glynda (new mother) kept repeating “I will love her forever”. I think that line will stay with me forever.

Perez Family Adoption

When I first saw Kennen and his adorable outfit I imagined him saying, in a British accent, “Well, aren’t I dapper?”. Kennen has pretty much the best personality of any child I have ever met. He is pure smiles and I fell in love with him.

Congrats to Nick and Nan (NAAAAAAN) for picking up an amazing kid. I am seriously excited for your lives.

DiMaggio Family Geongbokgung

I really had a lot of fun with the DiMaggios. Their kid Jaspar was a ball of energy with a beautiful smile. If you follow my work at all you should be able to tell that I love smiles. I’m a horrible still life or fine art photographer because my favorite thing in the world is seeing people (and helping them) express humongous so-big-its-ugly smiles. And the DiMaggios didn’t disappoint. Jaspar found the right couple because the only people who smiled more than him were his parents.

This was also my first family portrait shoot. How’d it turn out?
